Italy and United Arab Emirates

In recent years, the growth of political cooperation between Italy and the UAE has been remarkable both on a bilateral and multilateral level.

The frequency of exchanges of visits at ministerial level between Italy and the UAE has increased considerably and there have been regular exchanges of views on major world events, highlighting a commonality of views that has made our country emerge as a leading political interlocutor for the UAE in foreign policy initiatives in the area.
The fight against terrorism, the fight against piracy and regional stability represent points of strong convergence between Italian and Emirati foreign policies and the two countries are strongly committed to pursuing these objectives, also through their common membership in multilateral working groups such as the Group of Friends of Syria, the Group of Friends of Yemen, the Global Forum for Countering Terrorism and the Contact Group for Countering Piracy, just to name a few.
The signing (20 November 2012) of a Joint Declaration for the strengthening of bilateral Italian-Italian cooperation gave new impetus to bilateral relations and brought Italian-Italian political relations to a more global and structured level.
