Family members of European Union citizens

Applications from family members of EU citizens are treated with priority. To book an appointment, simply write an e-mail to dubai.visa@esteri.it.

Depending on the availability, the appointment will be scheduled at the Consulate or alternatively at the outsourcing agency.

Directive 2004/38/EC provides benefits for the following family members of European Union citizens:

1. the spouse;
2. the partner with whom the Union citizen has contracted a registered partnership, on the basis of the legislation of a Member State, if the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnerships as equivalent to marriage and in accordance with the conditions laid down in the relevant legislation of the host Member State;
3. the direct descendants who are under the age of 21 or are dependants and those of the spouse or partner as defined in point (b);
4. the dependent direct relatives in the ascending line and those of the spouse or partner as defined in point (b);

If the conditions envisaged by the legislation are met, a tourist visa will be issued free of charge for a family member of an EU citizen.

The visa is free in the following cases:

• Children under 6 years;
• Schengen visa for study;
• Family reunification with a citizen of the European Union;
• Some categories of family members of EU citizens (see above).

Those who submit the application directly to the Consulate are reminded that it is only possible to pay in cash (please bring exact change).
